Celebrating Neurodiversity at the Bar

Published: 17/03/2025 | News

This week, we celebrate neurodiversity with Barrister Michael Dougherty of Farrar’s Building.

Michael has collaborated with Neurodiversity in Law to bravely share his experiences of life at the bar, with autism. Please join us in proudly supporting Michael and neurodiversity at the Bar, by reading about his journey, the barriers he faced and the actions he took to overcome them. This is a fascinating read, which recognises neurodivergence as a positive aid in Michael’s career, helping him to be hyper-focussed in cases, to have a highly visual memory and excellent time management skills. Michael is working hard to engage in outreach work, in which he seeks to offer a number of work-shadowing opportunities for those interested in seeing the realities of practice at the bar with autism.

We applaud Michael for sharing and celebrating his neurodiversity and we are proud to have been a part of the journey that led to today’s feature, which can be viewed here: https://www.neurodiversityinlaw.co.uk/post/michael-dougherty-our-voice-our-stories.
